The workshop at Reunion is smelling good again!
Today it’s a feast for the EYES also. This is a gorgeous slab of heart pine that has been beautified by some tunnels dug by baby beetles.

This piece of pine will eventually be a tapered leg for the desk the Towson family commissioned.
Lots of artisans add this type of man-made distressing to their work to give it authenticity. One of God’s creatures did the work for me...and did it better than I ever could.
I read a book by John Eldredge many years ago that says all creatures please their Creator when they do what they were created to do. For example, when a pelican makes a nosedive into the ocean from 90 feet in the air — snatching up a snack,
God smiles because his handiwork is on display. He created the pelican to perform that feat of daredevilry.
That concept gives me joy — not just because I get to create furniture...but for the wood beetles whose artwork will soon be on display.
Good job, guys!
