5 New Year's Resolutions for your Home

Updated: Jan 13, 2020

Whew — 2020 already?

Here are 5 New Year's Resolutions that will help you fall in love — and stay in love — with your home in 2020.

#1 | Use Your Best Everything

Whether its your grandmother's silver, delicate china dishes, or an antique lamp, we say USE IT! That said, we understand that there is a risk of precious items being broken through use, but when you hold, love, and appreciate your best items, those sweet memories become a part of your everyday life. So for the new year, use your best everything!

#2 | Declutter

Even the most beautifully curated homes can look chaotic when cluttered. Try to start small this year by decluttering your home just one room at a time (I even get a small rush of satisfaction from organizing my pantry). We like to follow William Morris's words of wisdom: "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."

#3 | Stop Comparing

Homes, just like families, are not (and should not be) identical. Stop comparing your home's interior to everyone else's. Your home must be filled with the people and items you love the most because it is exactly that — your home. Need a little help creating unique pieces? That's our specialty, and we're only a phone call away: (229) 588-1046.

#4 | Journal what Speaks to You

For some, it's a repurposed-wood table. For me, it's pewter (lots of it). Find what speaks to you by free journaling home features and the emotions they bring you. For example, my daughter would write that Fiestware brings her joy. Go into the new year with that 2020 home vision (sorry, had to).

#5 | Make a Day of Design

What's more fun than journaling design ideas? A home consultation with us, your friendly neighborhood design professionals. We understand style, design, and balance, so help us understand you! We'll help you make your home into the space you've been dreaming of since last New Year's. Your resolution is only a call away — talk to you soon!
